The Serial ATA standard provided for the adoption of a new 15-pin drive power connector, replacing the aging 4-pin molex connector. However, if existing power supplies do not have enough SATA power connectors, the molex cables can still be used with an adapter.This 6" adapter cable plugs into a 4-pin Molex power plug and provides a single 15-pin SATA power connector.
